Day 7 (cont'd). 'Refuge des Espuguettes' (2,027 m), literally in the shadow of this majestic amphitheatre rising to over 3,000 m, the 'Cirque de Gavarnie'. In 1997 this site, together with the adjacent area on the other side of that magnificent wall, the 'Vallée de Ordesa et Monte Perdido, was registered by UNESCO on the world heritage list.
